What home insulation covers in the Black Country

Home insulation in the Black Country covers four main measures: cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, solid wall insulation and floor insulation. Cavity wall insulation fills the gap between the two skins of a post-1920s brick wall and suits most interwar and post-war semis in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Telford. Loft insulation tops the roof space up to the recommended 270mm depth and is the single most cost-effective measure for most homes. Solid wall insulation, fitted externally or internally, is the route for the region's many pre-1930s Victorian and Edwardian terraces, which have no cavity to fill. Floor insulation treats suspended timber floors common in older terraced housing. For eligible households, every one of these measures can be fully funded under the ECO4 scheme or the Warm Homes Local Grant, so the work costs nothing and cuts heating bills by hundreds of pounds a year.

Why Black Country homeowners choose us

Local to the Black Country

We know the housing stock here, from solid-wall terraces in Whitmore Reans to new-town cavity builds in Telford. The right measure depends on the property, and we survey before we recommend.

Frequently asked questions

Do I qualify for free insulation in Wolverhampton?

Many homes do. If you claim a means-tested benefit such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit or Child Tax Credit, your home is likely eligible for fully funded insulation under ECO4. Even without a benefit, City of Wolverhampton Council's LA Flex route can qualify households on a low income, with a relevant health condition, or in a fuel-poverty postcode. Around 59% of Wolverhampton homes sit in the EPC D to G bands that grants target. We check your eligibility free.

How long does insulation take to install?

Most jobs are quick. Cavity wall insulation on a typical semi takes two to three hours. Loft insulation is usually a half-day. Floor insulation runs from half a day to a full day depending on access. Solid wall insulation is the larger job, taking several days to a couple of weeks for external systems. We confirm timings at the free survey stage.

When does ECO4 funding end?

The ECO4 scheme runs until 31 December 2026. Demand is high as the deadline approaches and surveyor availability tightens toward the end, so we recommend booking a free eligibility check well ahead of the cut-off to secure funding for your home.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Telford, along with surrounding Black Country towns including Bilston, Wednesfield, Tettenhall, Stourbridge, Halesowen and Brierley Hill. If you are in a WV, WS, DY or TF postcode, we can almost certainly help.
